Back in 1942 a lady named Clara Schmitt had a vision of creating a national women's support group to support missions throughout The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Meeting lots of hurdles and raising a young family, she succeeded. Today, The Lutheran Women's Missionary League still exists and is going strong. Member's of LWML believe in Serving the Lord with Gladness (Psalm 100:2).
The group today, ministers to everyone, prayers for others, raises money and other donations for mission work. The Rev Mark Maas is the current LWML Senior Pastorial Counselor. Our LWML currently meets on Tues at 10 am. Our group has Bible study some Tuesdays and other Tuesdays they work on their sewing ministry. Most people are familiar with Mite Boxes. This is just another ministry the LWML started. Your small change goes into the Mite Box. All the small change has turned into large donations used around the world to those less fortunate and to spread God's Word.
October is the Annual Celebration of LWML. In 2026, our current LWML group has many activities slated. All female members of First Lutheran Church are welcome to join the activities of LWML.
The LWML website has great resources and more information about the organization. You can enjoy Bible Studies on the site as well. Please see the site below and look for the LWML table at Church for the Quarterly LWML Magazine plus more.
